‘Platypus’ Print is a part of the Australia Collection

This Australian mammal spends nearly 12 hours of its day underwater, so it was only fitting to capture it within an underwater scene. I wanted to show off the platypus’s waterproof fur and webbed feet, which help it glide through river water in search of shrimp, worms and insect larvae to eat (a mostly unappealing diet, but also thank you for keeping the bug population down!). Since this is an aquatic scene, the grass is arranged to give a sense of gently flowing water currents and the coloring shows the dappled light reaching down to the river bed.
